Lecturer feedback
You have managed your role with a clear sense of procedure, despite losing a team member and the occasional lapse in team organisation. You have demonstrated competent organisational skills and have provided focus and direction to the others in your group.
Keeping a production log should provide you with a documentation of the successes and areas for improvement that could be referred to in future. A Distinction level log will be a critical assessment of your achievement in relation to what you have set out to do. You should compare your work to work you have completed previously e.g. compared to short film/Cornwall. You should seek out feedback throughout the process, going beyond the obvious sources (such as likely members of your target audience). You should evaluate how your personal development in relation to the brief and your role within the project. You should also evaluate the impact of professional and legal constraints on your work.
Had you done your research properly into music contract before deciding what you were going to use, you might have saved time. The same goes for filming in the Bull Ring. You need to consider all legal issues before you go to shoot and also have a contingency plans if things do not work as you anticipate.

FMP Doumentary Log - 24th - 27th of May
On Monday Kate captured the footage and unfortunately in interview we captured didn’t have sound so we had to go back another time and get it. While Kate was editing and lynsey was sound editing and updating schedules, I created some more graphics including new astons that fit the theme of our documentary Vintage fashion.
On Tuesday I was away due to an appointment at the hospital.
Today Wednesday the 26th I went back to Birmingham to get some vox pops and footage of the town, I also went back to COW vintage store to get another interview from one of the staff as the manager was not available, they were very friendly and said I could also go around and film vox pops in the shop too. I then ventured off to the oasis market where there was a small vintage store. Here I met Beth fisher one of the owners of the vintage stalls and I got permission from reception allowing me to film inside. After the interview I went back to the bullring to collect my permit to allow me to film out on the bullring premises. This turned out successful and allowed me to film inside too I managed to get quite a lot of filming done and was pleased with how it went.
FMP Doumentary Log - 17th - 21st of May
On Thursday the group including Sofia this time went to Leamington to get voxpops from shoppers and come cutaways. Unfortunately not a lot of people were willing to talk to us so we didn’t get a lot of filming done.

FMP Doumentary Log - 3rd May - 8th May
On the 8th we made our way down to Cambridge for the Affordable Vintage Fair. We were greeted by the founder Judy Berger and then filmed cutaways and footage of the fair, we then had an interview with Judy about the fair and how it started. In this time we managed to get some voxpops of student shoppers as well as a male stall owner. For most of the day we split into two groups so we could get two lots of filming done as there were four of us with two cameras. I thought over all the day went well as we were professional during the time we spent there as we made sure that we wore high visibility jackets as the area was crowded. We thought it was a good idea that we were paired too as one person could watch out for any obstacles approaching while the other had the camera.
Throughout the day I filmed some of the cutaways and presented the questions, I also had to present the day as I was chosen as presenter of the documentary. I didn’t feel there were any major issues during filming but I feel we should have captured more footage so we have more than enough to work with just in case some of it wasn’t as good. For example some of the vox pops captured were not good enough to use as the camera work was shaky and sometimes grainy.

FMP Documentary Log - 27th -30th April 2010
As it was a pitch we also dressed smartly as we had to look presentable too. As we were last to go in we had time to go over our presentation, when the time came we went in to present our idea to a panel of lecturers. During this we were also filmed.
After the pitch we were told that we needed to make our overall documentary goal a lot clearer as it was too complex.
I was slightly upset that the idea wasn’t clear enough but we all had another chance to redo it. I made sure that everything that I did for the presentation was clear and changed anything that wasn’t relevant. For the rest of the week our group had to make sure the work flow was even so everyone had a slide to do, we also had to add slides after a lesson with John Branney about slides we needed to include, after this lesson I felt that some of the things that people left out were obvious and was shocked that I didn’t think of it before, so it was a good job we had another chance to do it better and boost our grades.

FMP Documentary Log - 26/04/10
As we were all in today we went over the presentation that had been created, we also discussed what else was needed in the presentation. I sent the presentation to the rest of the team so that they could put into their own slides to explain what they had researched; this was so everyone had their own slide to talk about. I researched for some filming equipment costs and travel costs for the hypothetical budget, channel 4's audience; the top 30 most watched programmes on channel 4 from the BARB website and found out about more vintage fairs. As this was our final day of preparation we managed to complete all of our slides, in my own time I created a logo for our production team and also made sure the PowerPoint was complete as it was vital for the pitch.
